Flowers and Petals

Spring is upon us as the flowers are starting to wake from their months long slumber and the temperatures are slowly rising. We begin to slide our fall's must-haves into the depths of our closets or shove them into unsuspecting boxes. But before we completely eliminate what we may need later, let's look at the fashion forecast for spring. Pinks, Florals, Ruffles and Lace are all popping up for this spring, bringing out our feminine side.

1. Ruffled Cardigans - While its a great idea to put away the fur vests, heavy coats, and cable knit sweaters, you should consider leaving out your cardigans. Spring's latest rendition has ruffles and comes in a variety of ice cream reminiscent colors. (Victoria's Secret cardigan)

2. Floral Dresses - Cable knits and much heavier dresses should go back in the closet as well. Floral dresses are popping up every where and the versatility of a floral dress will last through all seasons, its just about finding the right one for you. The goal should be to get one in a smaller pattern, that way it will be able to transition once the colder months hit again. (Charlotte Russe dress)

3. Lace - Leather is out but lace is in. Ultra feminine, lace is a beautiful addition to your wardrobe and it is also a versatile piece. You could even toughen it up by adding a leather jacket for an evening out during the later winter months. (Forever21 Ball lace top)

4. Mini Skirts - The one thing that will never go out of style but still keeps on getting shorter. Add ruffles like on this Charlotte Russe skirt to kill two styles with one stone. If you don't know what to look for, a basic a-line skirt in a basic pattern will work with pretty much everything you already have. Also don't be afraid to try other in-style skirt lengths like the maxi skirt and the new midi-skirt.

Hope you have an amazing spring and don't be afraid to try anything you haven't already. Fashion is about adventure....

Sephora's Beauty Insider vs. Ulta's Ultamate Rewards

As a confessed beauty addict I constantly find myself with a drawer full of makeup and "life necessities". That's why when I find out there's programs that help you save well, needless to say, I'm there. My two favorite beauty stores offer two very different programs which I'm going to talk about in length here. So if you are like me and looking for a steal, you came to the right place.

Sephora's Beauty Insider Program:
Cost - Admission to this program is absolutely free! This is only for the basic program however, the V.I.B. section is a little different. You have to be at least 13 to join.
Perks:
Free birthday gift on every birthday and its always new.
100 point perk. You get 1 point for every dollar you spend which, when you get to 100, you can redeem for a sample of one of their products.
500 point perk. The same as the 100 point perk except when you redeem 500 points you get what they call a deluxe or regular size item.
You can buy limited-edition, beauty insider only products. There are new ones every month.
If you subscribe to their email list you can get free gifts, special offers, first looks at upcoming products and more.
They sell everything from their own line of products to designer brands. The prices for most of their products in the store are kind of steep though.

V.I.B (Very Important Beauty Insider):
Cost - The one disadvantage to this next level of the Beauty Insider account is that you have to spend $350 in one calendar year before they'll upgrade you.
Perks:
10% Welcome offer
Exclusive gifts throughout the year
Invitations to special events
Early access to not-yet-launched products and more.

Ulta's Ultamate Rewards Program:
Cost - Ulta has three rewards programs which are totally different, two of which are free! You have to be at least 18 to join (I know this sucks).
Perks:
Earn 4 points per $1 you spend.
Valuable coupons throughout the year.
Special offers for Ultamate rewards members only.
They sell not only their own line of products but a couple of designer labels and a lot of drug store products.

The Club at Ulta Rewards:
Perks: There are six levels, varying differently by how much you spend. The lowest is $50 and with it you can get a wide variety of different rewards.

Platinum Level:
Perks: Sadly this section of the website isn't working but I do know that you have to spend $300 to qualify.

As you can see these are two very different rewards programs, all coming with their own set of pros and cons. I'll leave it up to you to decide what is the best one for you.

New Layout!

So as you may have noticed, I have a new blog layout. I thought my old one was cute for starting out but it just became tacky the more I looked at it. It is still a working progress and I plan to add more as I go along. Let me know what you think and also what I should add to my blog and new things you want to see me do. Your opinion counts!

Retro Side Wave Tutorial

So the makeup videos are hating me right now. They aren't wanting to upload on here though they are in the right format. Ugh. So anyways I did my first hair tutorial. Be prepared for beautiful....

Step 1:
Either put your hair in curlers like I did or you can just use an iron. I left my curlers in for about 30 minutes but 15 minutes is ideal.

Step 2:
Pull out all those rollers.

Shirley Temple hair!

Step 3:
Pick which side you want to part your hair on. It's best to decide this before you put your hair in curlers. Use a comb or a brush for this.

Step 4:
Brush out all the curls with a comb or your fingers. It's best not to use a brush since you still want some curl to your hair. Spray it with hair spray and voila!
Come back tomorrow and I should post a video for the Sephora hair (with bumpit like top).
