Outfit of the Week: H&M Theme

I decided to use ONE store this week to make an entire outfit from. So I chose a relatively new store to me and voila! Using H&M's cool online fashion studio all complete with model dolls and their Fall/Winter wardrobe, I came up with this. A little over the $100 I would like to stay in but I just thought it was too cute to delete anything. If its hard to read the photograph, I am posting the prices below. Hope you like it!

Revamp: Ballet Flats

I was looking in my closet the other day and was admiring my shoes (I tend to do that) when I thought that my equally boring ballet flats just didn't go with the trends anymore. I have had them for a couple of years and so naturally they look worn in. So I decided to revamp them and I am going to show you how to do it too. There are two equally stylish versions of this revamp though I only made one myself. Here is what you'll need:

Ballet flats (any old pair will do but if you have new ones that's great. And also preferably something without a pattern)

Jewels (Only if you want to do this version will you need jewels)

Ribbon or stiff fabric (Only if you want to do the bow version)

Version #1

You will need to have flat-backed ones in order for them to stay. You can do it one of two ways: Either you sew on the jewels (If they have small holes in them and if the fabric your shoe is made from will allow it) or you can glue them on, preferably with hot glue as its more likely to stick. Now for me I glued them onto my shoe as seen above.

Version #2

Take your ribbon or fabric and make it into a bow and glue it or sew it onto your shoe. Now voila! Its that easy.

This is a great way to take old ballet flats or even new ones you don't like anymore and make them new again. So get out there and strut your stuff in your new shoes ;)

Pillow Case Pencil Skirt

Now before you throw away those old pillow cases for new ones, I am going to show you how to give it another use. Let's make a pencil skirt! What I consider to be one of a woman's most essential fall needs is actually very versatile. I took an old pillow case from my sister when she changed room themes and am using it for another wardrobe must-have. So here goes....

1: First take an old pillow case. Now this won't work if its ripped beyond repair but don't worry if it has stains on it. Wash your pillow case and get out any visible stains. If it is white or an off-white color you can always dye it another color BEFORE you sew it.

2: Usually a pillow case has two sewn edges, if so then cut both and leave the un-sewn edge together (one least edge you have to sew). If yours however has all three sides sewn then you only want to cut one long edge and the very short edge. Cut off all the extra thread.

3: Measure the fabric around you and see how much you need to cut off. To make the skirt slimming you may want to cut a thin line down and slowly come in more as you near the bottom. Make sure you don't cut off too much as you will need enough to sew on!

4: Pin and sew the long edge together leaving a slit big enough to fit a zipper in (This part is optional as you can sew all the way up and use a hook and eye).

5: Voila! Go out and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor.

Tip: A great way to wear your pencil skirt is with some cute heels and a ruffly, tucked-in shirt. My brown one works great with teal, purple and red as accent colors.

Bonjour and Stay Fabulous,

Outfit of the Week

For my first outfit of the week I decided to incorporate some of the military style which is really hot this fall. This whole outfit is around $100 and created from various stores. I will kind of let the outfit speak for itself instead of using scientific words to describe it. Let me know what you think.

OPI Nail Polish Review

Sephora by OPI is a collection of 54+ nail colors that reminds me of a Baskin-Robbins for nail polish. The long-lasting colors, when used with their top coat and base coat, can last up to a week. And for someone who constantly washes their hands (I'm a slight germphobe) it is like a miracle. Their recent colors such as, Club Queen Scene, Dating the Drummer and Already Famous, are some of fall's hottest colors. Available only at Sephora stores and on Sephora.com for $9 a bottle. More expensive than most drug store bottles it is a must for anyone that wants their nail polish to last more than a day. I would definitely recommend this to everyone. So go pick yourself up a bottle and enjoy a beautiful, salon perfect mani or pedi!

Introduction

If you, like me, are subscribed to every fashion magazine known to man, lust for those expensive pieces, and pine for discounts at our favorite stores, then welcome! I, like you, have a craving for those Christian Louboutin shoes, gorgeous Armani Prive gowns, and all the beautiful jewelry that Van Cleef and Arpels has to offer. I on the other hand can't afford to buy such "frivolities" as non-fashion lovers like to put it. Until that one day that I can buy everything to my hearts content, I am stuck making replicas of the things I covet. Now I am sure due to the state of the economy most of you aren't spending much on things either. That's were I come in! This blog will not only keep you up to date on what is "in" but help you make it for a lot less. So until my next post......

Stay Fashionable,
