Pillow Case Pencil Skirt

Now before you throw away those old pillow cases for new ones, I am going to show you how to give it another use. Let's make a pencil skirt! What I consider to be one of a woman's most essential fall needs is actually very versatile. I took an old pillow case from my sister when she changed room themes and am using it for another wardrobe must-have. So here goes....

1: First take an old pillow case. Now this won't work if its ripped beyond repair but don't worry if it has stains on it. Wash your pillow case and get out any visible stains. If it is white or an off-white color you can always dye it another color BEFORE you sew it.

2: Usually a pillow case has two sewn edges, if so then cut both and leave the un-sewn edge together (one least edge you have to sew). If yours however has all three sides sewn then you only want to cut one long edge and the very short edge. Cut off all the extra thread.

3: Measure the fabric around you and see how much you need to cut off. To make the skirt slimming you may want to cut a thin line down and slowly come in more as you near the bottom. Make sure you don't cut off too much as you will need enough to sew on!

4: Pin and sew the long edge together leaving a slit big enough to fit a zipper in (This part is optional as you can sew all the way up and use a hook and eye).

5: Voila! Go out and enjoy the fruits of your hard labor.

Tip: A great way to wear your pencil skirt is with some cute heels and a ruffly, tucked-in shirt. My brown one works great with teal, purple and red as accent colors.

Bonjour and Stay Fabulous,
